The Iraqi Society of Haematology (IQSOH) was established in 2001 with the aim of promoting and advancing the exchange of knowledge related to hematological diseases from both clinical and diagnostic perspectives. The Society serves as a professional platform that brings together Iraqi hematologists, specialists in clinical and laboratory medicine, and physicians involved in the practice of hematology in Iraq and abroad. The Society was founded through the efforts of several distinguished Iraqi hematologists from both clinical and laboratory departments, including Dr. Mayada Alnuaimi, Dr. Ferial Hemli, Dr. Ali Moslem, Dr. Fouad Alkasab, Dr. Ali Mohammed Jawad, Dr. Azhar Sabeeh, and Dr. Abdul-Majeed Alwan. Between 2003 and 2005, due to major governmental changes in Iraq, the Society’s activities were temporarily suspended. In 2006, activities resumed following the re-election of members, and Dr. Nabeel Salman was elected as President of the Iraqi Society of Hematology. The Society continued its scientific and professional activities until December 2018, when it received official approval from the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to reactivate and legally re-establish the Society. A subsequent election was conducted to select the Society’s president and members for the 2019–2023 term.
